Conditioner is something which is extremely important for your hair more than the shampoo. After every hair wash, when the shampoo rips off the moisture from the hair, it is extremely important to apply conditioner to the hair to retain/lock the moisture inside it.
Some say,If you have normal or oily hair you can sometimes miss the conditioner but frizzy, dry hair people cannot miss the conditioner. But according to me,Whether you have dry or oily hair, moisturizing is important. Shampoo is great for removing dirt and oil, leaving locks squeaky clean, but in the winter, that can also lead to damage. Do you like the look of dry, flyaway hair? If not, you should start using a conditioner on your mop after you wash it to keep your hair healthy and shiny.
Why is it important to use a conditioner ?
Using a conditioner provides a variety of benefits, such as preventing hair breakage and tangling as well as helping create soft hair and smooth hair. Each time you condition your hair, conditioning agents smooth the cuticle, providing soft hair that looks healthy.
Conditioners work by smoothing down these scales so your hair looks smooth and shiny again. The upshot of smoother strands is less static and fewer split ends so hair is easier to style.Whereas shampoo opens the hair’s cuticle, conditioner seals it back up locking nutrients in and pollutants out.
There are so many conditioners available in the market and is really tough to choose what suits you better and which conditioner will improve your hair health. Besides they are loaded with chemicals, para bens, alcohols which either dry up or ruin your hair in the long run process.
I have come up with a DIY homemade Coconut conditioner which is super easy and super effective on your hair, especially for dry and frizzy hair.
INGREDIENTS YOU WILL NEED :
Unflavoured coconut milk. ( Sugar and preservatives free ).
Aloe vera gel.
Vitamin E capsules. ( Optional ).
I use this dabur coconut milk. You can use any coconut milk ( even homemade ).
Take a clean dry container. Make sure there is no moisture ( water ) in it which might reduce its shelf life.
Pour the entire packet of 200 ml coconut milk into it.
Add 3 tbsp of aloe vera gel into it.
Whip it all together so that everything gets blended together.
If your hair is extremely dry and damaged, you can add 4 vitamin E capsules.
Whip it thoroughly or you can use a hand blender.
This whole mixture has to refridgerated for atleast 2 hours. This thickens the consistency of the mixture.
You are done. Keep this conditioner in a bottle and remains good for 2 weeks if keep away from moisture and heat.
Use it as your regular conditioner after shampoo. Keep atleast for 15 mins and then rinse with normal water.
You can also use it as a hair mask for deep nourishment on wet hair ( for better penetration ) once a week.Leave the hair mask for atleast 30-45 mins. Then rinse off with normal water.
Regular usage can also straighten out the hair to certain extend.
After using weeks after weeks regularly, you can notice there is an improvement in the hair texture.
The frizziness and dryness completely goes away.
The problem of split ends is cured.
Coconut is a better conditioner than most of the chemical ones available from high end hair care brands. Coconut keeps your hair shiny and soft throughout the day and even later.Coconut helps in retaining moisture. If you live in a hot climate, the moisture in your hair is easily evaporated. As a result, dry, frizzy hair is very normal in these conditions. But using coconut protects this stripping away of essential moisture. It fights hair loss. It has been used as a hair loss treatment in India for centuries. It improves the quality of hair and strengthens the roots.
Aloe vera treats several issues coupled with hair such as hair damage or loss, dandruff, itchy scalp, fungal infection etc.
So this was my DIY recipe of homemade conditioner for dry, frizzy and damaged hair. It can also be applied for deep conditioning your hair for extra nourishment.
